Hi Michael,

thanks for your bug report.
What makes you think that hplip is broken instead of hp-check?

For example in "General Dependencies" packages cups-devel and cups-image 
are required. Both do not exist. Though this has been reported several 
times, HP does not want to change this.

This is not a bug, this is a feature.
