There is a non-upstreamed workaround in mutter for https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2216. This is technical debt. This appears to be a workaround for a GTK bug, fixed in 3.24.31 and 4.5.1, which are both in Debian 12. Can we drop the mutter workaround? On the upstream issue, Marco mentions "the usage of flatpaks/snaps out there that may not include super-updated gtk versions" which could be a reason to keep the workaround for some reasonable grace period, but we shouldn't keep non-upstreamable workarounds hanging around forever. smcv
