The new dependencies are marked as hard dependencies from upstream, we just mirror their debian packaging with as little adjustments as possible.
I unfortunately do not have the time to look into whether the dependencies are actually hard or not. If you have the time, feel free to open an issue upstream and resolve the issue there. Regards, Stephan
