I'd like to point out that the "fix" doesn't actually fix the reported
problem. Variables that must be quoted in order to have a well-defined
behavior are still not quoted, namely the "$i" is not quoted. See the
very first message in this thread for patch.

Using the regexp ^[a-zA-Z0-9_][a-zA-Z0-9._-]*\.sh$ ensures that
$i will never contain spaces or, in general, characters that
are interpreted by the shell in a special way. Therefore, unless
I'm missing anything, the behaviour with or without quotes
around $i would be the same.
