The metapackage lxde should change the default dependency from connman-gtk to network-manager-applet and also remove wicd since it is no longer available. Both on fresh install and on live CD, the wifi networking does not work out of the box.
Based on the recent bug 988696, the package should be network-manager-applet instead of network-manager-gnome. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1086826 Thus, the change would now be: - connman-gtk | network-manager-gnome | wicd + network-manager-applet | connman-gtk This correction would resolve many bugs and related complaints: LXDE: Please include a user-friendly network management tool https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=988696 lxde: recommends transitional network-manager-gnome https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1086826 LXDE: switch network management from connman to network-manager? https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=995119 connman does not respect /etc/network/interfaces when upgrading from buster to bullseye https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=994875 connman GUI not detecting or scanning wifi https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=948865 [Solved] Debian 12 LXDE/LXQT Networking problemhttps://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=154884 Wicd Removed https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/wicd
