I can provide a build (set of .deb files) of qemu with this change applied (if you have issues rebuilding it locally) - can any of you please verify if that patch fixes the issue for you?
I just uploaded a new revision to debian, adding the mentioned patch too, - let's see if it fixes the issue. /mjt
