Hi, There is patch available from upstream with a fix that can be easily backported. It looks like they do minor releases every couple of months, and it could be a while before this gets packaged.
If it's possible, would Debian be able to ship this FTBFS patch in experimental/sid until the next MariaDB release incorporating the patch? https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/4429/commits/25df7b60418526ffc89a8f13ea0deca173a0771f
