FWIW, I tried and search a bit on this issue on search engines, and stumbled 
upon #1004363 which looks rather similar.

However, I may be confused by the look of the screenshot which may not be the 
exact same look.

In any case, that ressembles with that ibus issue.

Don't have a clue whether Emacs GTK uses Ibus in any way.
