squeekboard depends on gnome-themes-extra-data but gnome-themes-extra
is archived upstream and the Debian GNOME team would like to remove
it. The primary purpose of gnome-themes-extra is to provide the
Adwaita theme for GTK2 so it's likely to be removed from Testing
whenever GTK2 is removed from Testing.

I'm guessing the dependency is for
/usr/share/themes/Adwaita-dark/index.theme

squeekboard uses GTK3. Maybe it could use libhandy to opt into dark
style support similar to libadwaita apps? Then it shouldn't need that
file but could just be using Adwaita's dark style.

Thank you,
Jeremy Bícha
