Sorry for that question, but: were you able to reproduce the issue at all, i.e. with the unpatched libpng? As Aaron wrote in his initial post he was unable to create a minimal example, meanwhile it was quite easy as described by Akira. For me that minimal example worked, but I suspect this is not the case everywhere.
