Thank you. I second the approach that you propose. The helper is relevant to packages that need to be backported to bookworm or earlier. I do not quite see packages with compat level 15 as being backported that far. The rare packages that do need this backporting sould be ok with having the deprecation warning in their log, but the warning likely helps with reducing the long tail. Please go ahead. Helmut
