@Jeremy, sorry for having overseen your earlier message. The approach with foo.install would obviously also work well. But I'm not a big fan of dh-sequence-* ... IMO it feels conceptually subotimal to use dependency fields to actually configure DH. It's a bit different with dh-compat-level, cause that really does cause dependencies on the right dehelper.
