Package: nemo Version: 6.4.5-1 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Dear Maintainer,
I am experiencing intermittent SIGSEGV crashes of nemo-desktop on Debian 13 (Trixie). I am reporting this because Debian 13 currently provides nemo 6.4.5-1, while the upstream fix is present in later Nemo releases. The issue was fixed upstream after Debian 13 was released, and the fix is present in later Nemo releases. I am running: - nemo 6.4.5-1 - Cinnamon 6.4.10 - GTK 3.24.49-3 The crash has occurred five times since 2026-08-25: 2026-08-25 2026-09-01 2026-09-03 2026-09-20 2026-09-29 The latest crash occurred on 2026-09-29 at 18:06:17 CEST. A symbolized coredump backtrace identifies the crash as: #0 actions_changed() at ../src/nemo-blank-desktop-window.c:282 #9 nemo_directory_emit_files_changed() #12 emit_change_signals_for_all_files() #13 emit_change_signals_for_all_files_in_all_directories() #19 ... libgtk-3.so.0 #20 ... libgdk-3.so.0 #23 g_main_context_iteration() #24 g_application_run() #25 main() at ../src/nemo-desktop-main.c:103 At the point of the crash, GDB showed: window = 0x55f208028cb0 window->details = 0x1 The crashing instruction accesses window->details + 0x20, resulting in an invalid access at address 0x21. The callback is connected to the "changed" signal of NemoActionManager. This appears to correspond to upstream Nemo issue #3571: https://github.com/linuxmint/nemo/issues/3571 That issue was subsequently fixed upstream in commit 1c2089741179ef61f19094dc2ccc4fa3a5379403: https://github.com/linuxmint/nemo/commit/1c2089741179ef61f19094dc2ccc4fa3a5379403 The upstream commit describes the problem as invalid callbacks from blank desktop windows after monitor power/configuration changes, and changes the action-manager signal disconnect in nemo-blank-desktop-window.c. I have not been able to establish a reliable manual reproduction procedure. The crashes are intermittent. I am reporting this because Debian 13 currently provides nemo 6.4.5-1, while the upstream fix is present in later Nemo releases. Expected behavior: nemo-desktop should not crash.
