Hi Marcus,thanks for the detailed report, the analysis is correct: this is the bug fixed upstream by commit 1c208974, which is in nemo 6.6.3, so unstable and testing (6.6.4-1) already have the fix. I'm closing the bug with that version and tagging it for trixie.
About trixie: the crash needs a specific combination (a monitor without desktop icons, so usually a multi-monitor setup, a monitor layout change, and later an icon theme or MIME database update), and nemo-desktop is restarted automatically afterwards. Updates to stable take quite some work and time, and they are harder to get accepted for a single fix of an uncommon case like this one. The fix is small and applies cleanly to 6.4.5, so I would rather include it in a stable update together with other small and important fixes for nemo, if there are any worth adding, to make the upload more worthwhile.
