So the white background shows up in an LXQt session with muffin as the window manager, not in a Cinnamon session. The xsession-errors file you attached comes from a Cinnamon session ("About to start Cinnamon (X11 backend)"), so it doesn't cover this case.

If you selected muffin as the window manager in LXQt on purpose: as far as I know, upstream supports muffin only as the window manager of Cinnamon. Its README says that muffin is "specifically adapted to work as the window manager for the Cinnamon desktop environment", and, like mutter (which it is forked from), running the plain muffin binary on its own is only meant for debugging. Without Cinnamon, muffin runs with a minimal example plugin, so it is not expected to work well as the window manager of another desktop. For LXQt I suggest using one of its usual window managers, such as openbox, xfwm4 or kwin.

Best regards,
Fabio
