Yes, I would like some assistance, thank you for offering.

I am struggling with the current state of Python packaging in Debian. It is
a complex system with so many abstractions and little guidance! The manual
pages discuss in detail all the options and environment variables, but I
always get lost on *what* happens when, and therefore how to debug it when
it's not working.

Currently I have the Debian package built correctly inside the ‘sbuild’
environment:

=====
$ dpkg-deb --contents python3-jaraco.logging_3.4.0-1~pre1_all.deb | cut
--characters=49-

What's failing for me is Debian's AutoPkgTest:

=====

So, while the Debian package is built correctly, somehow it is not being
installed for use by AutoPkgTest. Only the two configuration files
(‘pyproject.toml’, ‘pytest.ini’) are installed into the temporary testing
environment; this is default for PyBuild. But it is not copying the actual
Python package to that environment, and so AutoPkgTest ends up running
PyTest with no Python package to test.

Can you investigate and try to troubleshoot what needs to change so
AutoPkgTest gets what it needs?
