Package: opentelemetry-cpp Version: 1.28.0-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
the shared libraries that provide the public interface of the otel cpp are currently not versioned but shipped as plain .so files. By that, shlibs:Depends cannot automatically resolve the dependencies to the OTEL libraries, resulting in downstream packages that miss it. It also makes updates of the package hard, as no so version means the package versions have to be pinned by each user. I'm further wondering, why the library package is not called libopentelemetry-cpp. Best regards, Felix Moessbauer -- System Information: Debian Release: forky/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: riscv64 Kernel: Linux 7.2.12+deb14-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_WARN Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages opentelemetry-cpp depends on: ii libabsl20260526 20260526.0-2+b1 ii libc6 2.43-7 ii libcurl4t64 8.23.0-1 ii libgcc-s1 16.2.0-3 ii libgrpc++1.51t64 1.51.1-10+b1 ii libgrpc29t64 1.51.1-10+b1 ii libprotobuf32t64 3.21.12-17 ii libstdc++6 16.2.0-3 opentelemetry-cpp recommends no packages. opentelemetry-cpp suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
