When gt-gnutella starts, it tries to identify the possible connections 'by
country' (on the basis of IP, presumably). The country names which are
displayed are pedantic ('Belgium, Kingdom of', 'Venezuela, Bolivarian
Republic of', 'United Kingdom of Great Britain & N. Ireland') or downright
wrong ('Polish People's Republic' -- Poland has not called itself a People's
Republic since the collapse of the communist regime, which happened, IIRC,
quite some while ago).
If the developers feel it is necessary to identify connections by country
name, they should use the standard official ISO short names:
http://www.iso.org/iso/en/prods-services/iso3166ma/02iso-3166-code-lists/list-en1.html
That way we could have simply Belgium, Venezuela, United Kingdom, Poland,
etc. Apart from getting rid of the pedantry and the inaccuracies, the bonus
would be that the "country" column would claim less real estate on the
screen.
