Modifications should be in local.conf, but I think it's not mentioned in any of the the man pages.Around 22 o'clock on Mar 13, Jaap Haitsma wrote:
I managed to get my fonts working again. It seems that I edited my fonts.conf a long time ago. With the fonts.conf provided by you it works fine.
Ah. Good to know you're back to working. There's another bug which says fonts.conf doesn't belong in /etc/fonts, which your experience tends to validate. I'll see if I can't get it moved to /usr/share where it belongs.
My apologies that I bothered you
Not at all -- you've uncovered a user-trap in the font configuration where the fonts.conf file "shouldn't" be edited, but lives in /etc/fonts where it
should be site-customizable.
I'd like my monospace font to be luxi mono i.s.o. of bitstream mono. How do I do that in local.conf?
I know I can do that in fonts.conf but If I put the aliases the way I want in local.conf it does not seem to overide the settings in fonts.conf
