The problems with that version primarily included the dependency on
mutt (not everyone uses it).

The message begins with the line:
(DO NOT MODIFY THIS LINE. DELETE IT TO ABORT.)
But I think I prefer the prompt for confirmation.

Maybe there should be a choice, as you suggest.
