Hello,

I have been following these related bugs for my disappearing font
problem. I have resolved it in gnome by turning on antialiasing on all
fonts. This works fine for gnome-desktop but gdm and blackbox still show
the problem. Actually blackbox shows no fonts at all. This is all after
a recent dist-upgrade to the latest etch.

Seems this bug was resolved months ago, should the fixed cairo version
already be available?

I've added the AA settings to my global font.config:

<!--
  bbogart's addition to make all fonts AA
-->
        <match target="font" >
                <edit mode="assign" name="antialias" >
                <bool>true</bool>
                </edit>
        </match>

Which seems to make no difference.

Looks like the "new" version of cairo that resolved this problem is only
version 1.2.0-4.

What can I do to resolve this other than downgrading to sarge, or waiting...

Thanks
B. Bogart
