I'm not familiar with the inner workings, either. But, as I said in the original report, this machine has two arrays, and only one of them is being left unclean. And, when I used my homebrewed scripts, both of them were properly closed on suspend (not by the scripts, they were *very* crude, but by the kernel itself).
