Regarding the reinstallation issues: For the files in /etc, I need to know what files were there, which bacula packages you had installed, and which ones you purged. I suspect that you simply didn't purge all of them. As for the problem re-creating the database, you apparently gave it the wrong administrator user name (bacula instead of postgres). If the wording is confusing, the bug is in dbconfig-common, not Bacula, since dbconfig-common is handling all of this configuration. I do not feel that your bug report is precise enough to reassign to dbconfig-common.
