See my previous comment. When I read that patch a while ago, I didn't encounter any different behaviour in PHP skripts. My only concern was that it's binary incompatible with ZendOptimizer, which we are incompatible with anyway due LFS support. And to tell you truth - I couldn't care about ZendOptimizer less :-).
