Thanks Carlos, I need to investigate your list of dependencies as you are not running within KDE. digikam should work under gnome, just most people don't. Could I ask you to install the reportbug package from Debian and then run $ reportbug digikam You can then locate this bug report and followup with additional information and this will also detail which versions of which dependencies you have installed which will help debug.
