An NMU is welcome. I don't totally understand your changes but they're small and I trust they move things in a positive direction. BTW the package is several upstream beta-releases behind. I think for your patch this isn't important since the change is small, but ultimately I want to restart packaging from scratch (if for no other reason than because right now I forget all the complexities and also some of them may have gone away, in which case it'd be best to actually get rid of the diff cruft).
