Hi, Totem already does this. Do you use gnome-screensaver, xscreensaver or something else? Did this work prior to 2.20? You could, at least with gnome-screensaver, kill the process and run it in a terminal, like this: gnome-screensaver --no-daemon --debug and check for any messages from totem.
