I can try to restart X, but it fails every time with a similar
log. My screen is plugged onto the VGA plug. What seems to happen is
that when X enters sleep mode, it somehow disables the VGA output and
is unable to switch it back on.
This is probably related to the upstream bug at the URL above.
There's a patch attached there, if you want to try it.
