Sure, I fully agree with you, and that's why that's my last, and very last, option. And that option would be very studied inside Debian Edu community before deciding to go on it. And, in case we do it, first condition would be to always stay in syncr with dhcp3, what would make debian security team life not so hard. Anyway, first option is getting that into upstream, but upstream says they don't want to use it as he doesn't want to make the server non-rfc-compliant[1] and it's not in his roadmap[2]. Second option is including it into current dhcp3 package patches, but that does not depend on me. We're looking forward for some answer from current maintainers. Cheers. José L.
