Hello Jens: I've read your bug report and I think the issue could be addressed upstream. There has been lots of changes upstream and that probably require even a change in the packaging approach.
For the moment, if you're a regular Debian user, there's little to do other than waiting. Alternatively if you're brave enough you could try building from svn yourself (quite stable, IMO) and try. Regards, -- Raúl Sánchez Siles
