I'm actually using rxvt-unicode - but not if my $TERM is set to rxvt.

Which version of rxvt-unicode do you use? I can't reproduce this
behaviour.

Did you run jed with -n? Can you try xjed and unset DISPLAY?

DISPLAY= xjed

Bye, Jörg.
Hello Jörg,

rxvt-unicode is version 8.3. I tried running jed with -n and got the same results.

With an unset DISPLAY, and TERM set to rxvt-unicode, xjed runs within the terminal I started it in, perfectly. Setting DISPLAY to 'xjed' works as well.

I still get the hangy behavior from the plain 'jed'.

Thanks.
