If you're asking what happens when Debian drops support for Python 2.4, then I think the answer is that all packages that build-depend on Python (including Boost) get rebuilt. If you arrange things properly according to Debian's Python Policy, this can be done with a binary NMU. Otherwise it can require some packaging changes. -Steve
