That's also the combination that triggered the problem for David
Kastrup. FTR, I use icewm and nvidia-glx.

Too bad, Intel graphics would have been a much better choice on a
laptop. So for now you have to type C-l regularly or have Emacs do it
for you, like that:
(run-with-idle-timer 1 1 'recenter)
(just kidding, that would be rather distracting!).
