Package: openvpn
Version: 2.1~rc7-1
Followup-For: Bug #475353

Hi again,

openvpn switched from built-in code to the pkcs11-helper library between
2.1_rc4 and 2.1_rc7, but this dependency is missing in the current
Debian package. The configure script therefore disables all
pkcs11-related options. Rebuilding the Debian package with
libpkcs11-helper1-dev installed restores the pkcs11 functionality.

This switch to the pkcs11-helper library can be expected to break
existing configuration files because a number of options were removed or
redefined (pkcs11-slot-type, pkcs11-slot, pkcs11-id-type, pkcs11-id).
It might be worthwhile to add an entry to the NEWS file to make people
aware of this. The new usage of --pkcs11-providers and --pkcs11-id is
described in detail here:

http://openvpn.net/howto.html?forward=no#pkcs11_openvpn_config

(The new manpage is not very explicit about this point.)
