I have no idea. That's what I'm asking :-)

The changelog does not make that clear and I have no idea what changes the 
upstream change that this regression was bisected to introduced.
Its changelog does not say anything like "implement rendering acceleration", 
which leaves me with a lot of uncertainty about how your patch relates to 
that change.
