Can you please post the oops and your lirc related config [1]? While I
have updated lirc's packaging in SVN [2], I do not see any change in
lirc_serial/ lirc_dev which might suggest a fix for 2.6.25 related issues
in lirc 0.8.3. Furthermore lirc_serial is working fine with 0.8.2-2 and
kernel 2.6.25.4 for me, it's lirc_i2c which oopses without patching (patch
pending in svn, or rather obsoleted by 0.8.3).
Alternatively it would be nice if you could test current pkg-lirc svn [3],
or the experimental lirc 0.8.3 packages I've uploaded to [4].
Sorry for the late reply, I haven't had time to play around with the
problematic machine. I downloaded the experimental lirc 0.8.3 packages
and tested with them: Lirc compiled & works ok with my 2.6.25 kernel!
The 0.8.3 package seems to work really well, I haven't had any problems
with it so far.
I downgraded the lirc packages back to unstable's 0.8.2-2 now and
recompiled the lirc modules. After installing the modules & restarting
lirc everything still worked ok. So the problem must have been not in
the lirc-modules package and instead some kind of a configuration
problem on my machine. Unfortunately I regenerated my lirc configuration
at the same when I installed the experimental 0.8.3 package and
accidentally forgot to save the old config - so I don't have any oops or
config information, I'm very sorry.
The lirc-modules-source package that I downloaded from [4] was the
following one:
lirc-modules-source_0.8.3-1~svnr314.sidux.1_all.deb
But anyway, the reported issue was most likely in my local configuration
and the bugreport was invalid. Sorry for the noise and thank you for
your help & fast response!!
Yours,
Aki
