The issue changed, but mpg123 still defaults to OSS:
$ mpg123 file.mp3
[oss.c:182] error: Can't open default sound device!
[audio.c:561] error: failed to open audio device
[audio.c:179] error: Unable to find a working output module in this list: oss
[audio.c:463] error: Failed to open audio output module
[mpg123.c:757] error: Failed to initialize output, goodbye.
$
Even etch supports only kernel 2.6 that ships with and defaults to ALSA
as sound system, and the use cases for OSS have become _very_ exotic.
For mpg123 to simply work without manually specifying an audio output
module even without the OSS emulation enabled in the kernel it would be
best if mpg123 would default to using ALSA.
