I imagine looking at the diff between 2.8.6 and 2.8.4 would help. I don't really have time at the moment to do so though. I don't really have the inclination to either since I'm not too happy about upstream's treatment of the GPL and I'm also intending to switch to some telepathy-based IRC client sometime in the future.
