Package: sane-utils
Version: 1.0.19-12

Near the end of the installation, sane-utils adds a line to /etc/inetd.conf
that you just have to activate in order to start saned via inetd. It also
gives a heads-up to xinetd users that they need to convert this to xinetd's
different format. However, the line it shows is

  #<off># sane-port\tstream\ttcp\tnowait\tsaned:saned\t/usr/sbin/saned saned

i.e. all tabs actually written as '\t'. I guess this is also given to itox
lateron, which also can't use this but needs a string with tabs or spaces
instead and therefore doesn't generate any output.

BTW: while you're at it, why not actually install that script into xinetd?
Just add a "disable=yes" and it also doesn't start without the admin
explicitly activating it.

thanks

Uli
