I contacted to upstream authors and he said following. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe it isn't Develock issue because Develock doesn't judge whether one is a comment or not, and also doesn't do the syntactic highlighting on comments. You can verify it by turning Develock off (`M-x develock-mode RET' toggles `develock-mode'; see the minor mode string that changes in the mode line). Anyway I tried some perl sources visiting in some versions of Emacsen with the line that you brought up and didn't see such a problem. So, I guess it is due to something wrong in your configuration or in the version of font-lock that you used.
