smbfs is still (and will be) removed from samba and kernel 2.6.27 will remove it too. cifs is the replacement but you need a newer kernel for this. If this is not possible on your side I see nothing we can do for you because upstream (samba and kernel) removed/is removing smbfs. I would like to close the bug because there is nothing we can do.
