I can't do _anything_ from the menu I'm afraid and it's a remote box with only serial console access so I can't swap VT :( Any option I pick errors (which by itself is probably fine and completely my fault AFAIK). The problem is that if the menu system is broken (say part of the install process wiped / completely for example) then you get stuck and can't "abort the installation" since that has several dependencies. I'll try and reproduce on a local box to dig a bit deeper.
