Absolutely true of course, that fixed it. Notice, however, that I'm still getting (maybe unrelated issues) with resume from ram. Just sometimes, the console gets flooded with SectorIdNotFound error messages and the second I touch the disk, the whole thing crashes (no more keyboard and console still going like crazy). Alt-Sysrq doesn't work and i need to cold reboot (hold power for n seconds). This looks more like those bugs however: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6840 (marked as closed) http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=475055 (also marked as resolved) http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problems_with_ACPI_suspend-to-ram (some docs) Maybe I should reopen that other issue... unless you guys tell me this is related. I think the issues here can be closed provided the right stuff (see above) is put into Hal. Thanks for the excellent followup(s), A. -- Si l'image donne l'illusion de savoir C'est que l'adage pretend que pour croire, L'important ne serait que de voir - Lofofora
