They also appear when upgrading an etch system to lenny, which makes it worthwhile to either actually fix in lenny or to document in the release notes. Methods to reproduce: (1) take an etch system (2) update udev to the lenny version (3) update makedev to the lenny version The error messages do not happen when the system is rebooted after (2), makedev in this case correctly detects the situation.
