Yes, I agree that such error messages should be avoided, but I am not sure how this could be fixed for etch->lenny upgrades. The issue is *already* fixed in lenny, since udev/0.125-7, currently in lenny, does not mount /dev/.static/dev/ . Maybe it could be fixed *in etch* (with a point release update? I don't know if there will be another one before lenny release...), by upgrading to a patched version of udev that does not mount /dev/.static/dev/ ... Perhaps, documenting it in the release notes is better. I think it would be enough to warn about these messages and explain that they are harmless (and may be avoided by upgrading udev first and then reboot before proceeding with the rest of the upgrade)... What do you all think?
