Interestingly, if I edit /etc/sudoers so that it contains

    Defaults fqdn

then I get the error message twice.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] sudo ls >/dev/null
sudo: unable to lookup thanatos via gethostbyname()
sudo: unable to lookup thanatos via gethostbyname()
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/jdthood# echo $?
0
[EMAIL PROTECTED] grep fqdn /etc/sudoers
Defaults fqdn
