If you rename them use short names please. :) But is there really a need to rename the commands? As far as I can see only newsp collides with another package. I knew filep and mailp from solaris, where the commands have exactly the same names (with the only difference that the derived commands like filep are not links to mp but to a shell wrapper around mp). That's how I found the debian package. Actually I like to have the same names for the same commands in different *nix worlds. So if I had the choice I would prefer not to rename them.
