Interestingly, it does not. So it's not the version that's the problem, but instead somehow windows gzip just generates a different stream for the same inputs. (Please don't worry about this, pristine-tar 1.0 will handle such edge cases by storing the entire original file in the 'delta' if it has to.) -- see shy jo
