I can reproduce it here (by starting a 96 dpi X server, I usually use 72 dpi) so it should be possible to track it down from my end. Any analysis of the problem would be useful for me. I have spent some time on the problem but not made much progress. As another user mentioned xterm also displays this issue, and is probably going to be easier to debug than gnome-terminal. The FreeType demos do not display the issue, so it is not entirely clear cut where the fault lies, it may be some interaction between Xft and FreeType. > Alternatively, is it related to #316031?
