Package: grub-pc Version: 1.96+20090725-1 Severity: normal
After moving to grub-pc, memtest86+ does not launch. I tried patch from bug report #539907 but it still does not launch: 'error: file not found'. But the patch from #539907 does fix this: Warning: update-grub_lib is deprecated use grub-mkconfig_lib instead And also changes 'linux' to 'linux16' A patch will be submitted shortly, that includes the fixes from #539907 and a fix for this issue. Will report back once it's submitted. -- Package-specific info: *********************** BEGIN /proc/mounts /dev/root / ext4 rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0 /dev/hda1 /boot ext3 rw,noatime,errors=continue,data=ordered 0 0 /dev/hda4 /home ext4 rw,noatime,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0 *********************** END /proc/mounts *********************** BEGIN /boot/grub/device.map (hd0) /dev/hda *********************** END /boot/grub/device.map *********************** BEGIN /boot/grub/grub.cfg # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### set default=0 set timeout=5 set root=(hd0,2) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 1eb15a55-80d3-4049-a3a2-6a17c99237f5 if loadfont /usr/share/grub/ascii.pf2 ; then set gfxmode=1024x768 set gfxpayload=1024x768x16 insmod gfxterm insmod vbe if terminal_output.gfxterm ; then true ; else # For backward compatibility with versions of terminal.mod that don't # understand terminal_output terminal gfxterm fi fi ### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### set menu_color_normal=cyan/blue set menu_color_highlight=white/blue ### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, Linux 2.6.30.4" { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 6ab54cdd-240d-4a96-8fb5-70c2c1722723 linux /vmlinuz-2.6.30.4 root=/dev/hda2 ro quiet } menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, Linux 2.6.30.4 (recovery mode)" { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 6ab54cdd-240d-4a96-8fb5-70c2c1722723 linux /vmlinuz-2.6.30.4 root=/dev/hda2 ro single } menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, Linux 2.6.30-1-686" { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 6ab54cdd-240d-4a96-8fb5-70c2c1722723 linux /vmlinuz-2.6.30-1-686 root=UUID=1eb15a55-80d3-4049-a3a2-6a17c99237f5 ro quiet initrd /initrd.img-2.6.30-1-686 } menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, Linux 2.6.30-1-686 (recovery mode)" { set root=(hd0,1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 6ab54cdd-240d-4a96-8fb5-70c2c1722723 linux /vmlinuz-2.6.30-1-686 root=UUID=1eb15a55-80d3-4049-a3a2-6a17c99237f5 ro single initrd /initrd.img-2.6.30-1-686 } ### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### menuentry "Memory test (memtest86+)" { linux16 /memtest86+.bin } menuentry "Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)" { linux16 /memtest86+.bin console=ttyS0,115200n8 } ### END /etc/grub.d/20_memtest86+ ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### # This file is an example on how to add custom entries ### END /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### *********************** END /boot/grub/grub.cfg -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30.4 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages grub-pc depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.27 Debian configuration management sy ii grub-common 1.96+20090725-1 GRand Unified Bootloader, version ii libc6 2.9-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii ucf 3.0018 Update Configuration File: preserv grub-pc recommends no packages.
